About the course

Accelerating patient access to their record or Responsible Sharing through a Partnership of Trust

Highlights:
NHS Digital announced “Accelerating patient access to their record” and “From December 2021, patients with online accounts such as the NHS App, and whose practice uses TPP will be able to read all new entries in their health record. Patients whose practice uses EMIS will be able to view theirs from early 2022. Arrangements with practices which use Vision as the clinical system are under discussion.” This means “GPs will need to consider the impact of each entry, including documents and test results, as they add them to a patient’s record.“

Benefits of attending

  • Listen to the leading light who has enabled patients to view their GP electronic health records and some of the thinking behind enabling a better understanding of their healthcare needs.
  • Learn about the role you have in the consulting room to encourage people to get access to their records and understanding and why this is part of the consultation and part of shared decision making.
  • Learn how to get started and learn from both GPs around their experiences.
  • Opportunity to ask questions, where the challenges lie and how they have overcome them
  • Ideal for anybody who wants to get started or who has already started but unsure how to scale this up safely and responsibly instead of just allowing this to happen

Speakers
Dr Amir Hannan, MBE, has been a champion for Records Access and Understanding since 2004 and enabled over 81% of his patients to see what the doctor or nurse have written including free text using a unique safety checklist questionnaire consent process. Records are also checked before access is granted in a responsible manner to support a Partnership of Trust between patient and clinician. He describes the benefits of doing this and how you can?
Dr Mohammed Sattar is a GP partner in Leeds who has taken on these principles and implemented it recently in his own GP practice. He will describe his experience, what challenges he has had, how he has overcome them and what he plans to do to transform the practice experience.
